Lanii A. Thomas brings nearly a decade of public relations, marketing and travel-
related communications experience to Inklusion PR.  She specializes in developing and
implementing marketing strategies, and creating and executing communications
plans.  Lanii has solid experience in copywriting, Web content development, video
scriptwriting and production, executive messaging and crisis communications. She is
a published magazine writer who focuses on travel, healthcare, corporate profiles,
business news and fashion features.  

Prior to joining Inklusion PR, Lanii led the media relations and PR team at the world’s
busiest airport for nearly seven years.  In the position of senior public relations
manager, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, she was responsible for
leading the day-to-day public relations operations, and media events.  Under her
leadership she helped to develop and disseminate the airport’s messages concerning
several major world events.  They include the Y2K rollover, the 9/11 Attacks on
America, and a major security breach involving the infamous Michael Shane Lassiter
that shut down Hartsfield-Jackson leaving nearly 80-thousand travelers stranded in
November of 2001. In 2003, the airport’s marketing and PR team won three
prestigious awards for categories including film and video projects, Web sites, and PR
Campaigns. Lanii was instrumental in each award winning category.  

As Hartsfield-Jackson’s longest serving public relations manager, Lanii initiated many
“firsts” as part of the airports focus on exceeding customer expectations.  Her
innovative accomplishments include creating the first airport coloring book for
children, which promoted the school tours program.  She also initiated and managed,
the first videotape script called, “Careers in Aviation;” and Lanii helped to establish
the airport’s first AM-radio station.  One of her highest achievements at the airport
was creating the first job fair in 1999.  This event is now held bi-annually and attracts
more than four thousand of job seekers each year.  During her tenure at Hartsfield-
Jackson Lanii was recognized as “One of the 100 Most Powerful and Influential
Women in Georgia” and she has been honored as one of “Atlanta’s Top 100 Black
Women of Influence.”  Under her leadership, the Airport received numerous awards
including a Video & Film Award, Web Site Award, and Honorable Mention for PR
Campaign from Airports Council International in 2003.

Before joining the City of Atlanta - Department of Aviation, Ms. Thomas worked in
advertising and media relations for a telecommunications company in metro Atlanta.  
She also worked for Georgia Public Television as a business correspondent on “The
Georgia Business Report,” weekly news program. For nearly two years, she worked
as a television and radio journalist in the Atlanta market for WSB-TV and WSB-AM
simultaneously.

A native Chicagoan, Ms. Thomas received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications
from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale.
